    Der World Fantasy Award ist ein Literaturpreis, der seit 1975 jährlich auf der World Fantasy Convention, einem alljährlichen, gegen Anfang November stattfindenden Treffen von Sammlern und professionell oder anderweitig an Kunst oder Literatur aus dem Bereich der Light und Dark Fantasy Interessierten, für herausragende Leistungen auf dem Gebiet der Fantasy vergeben wird.


    Ich habe gemerkt, daß ich über die Jahre einige Bücher der Preisträger oder zumindest der Kandidaten gelesen habe. Anderes klingt sehr interessant und wird es sicher früher oder später auf meinen SuB schaffen, daher dachte ich, es könnte von allgemeinem Interesse sein, diesen Literaturpreis hier mal vorzustellen und weiter zu verfolgen (in einem Parallel-Thread werde ich auch noch den Mythopoetic Award vorstellen; vielleicht kann man ja - bei Interesse - solche Literaturpreis-Threads zu einem untergeordneten Board zusammenfassen, ähnlich wie zB die Neuerscheinungen).

  • Interessante Namen findet man schon, keine Frage. Aber teilweise findet man hier auch Genre-fremde Namen, oder täusche ich mich? Was macht z.B. Stephen Kings "Misery" in der Liste des Fantasy Award?

  • Ich schenke den Awards in der Genre-Literatur in letzter Zeit wesentlich mehr Beachtung, da inzwischen schon einige voll meinen Geschmack getroffen haben.


    Auf Worlds Without End gibt's die Bücher übrigens schön dargestellt - nicht nur den WFA, sondern auch alle möglichen anderen Science-Fiction und Fantasy Awards (Hugo, Nebula, etc.).
    Mir hat ja der letzte Gewinner (von 2011) sehr gut gefallen. Ein ganz außergewöhnliches Buch, das zeigt, dass man nicht unbedingt Drachen und Mittelalter oder auch weiße Protagonisten braucht, um ein gutes Fantasy-Buch zu schreiben.


    Ich geh' dann mal wühlen und die Wunschliste erweitern. :breitgrins:
